Kaishan KT30 Integrated Surface DTH Drilling Rig — The Ultimate Large-Scale Mining Rig

The Kaishan KT30 represents the zenith of integrated drilling technology for Shaanxi Kaishan. This 33.9-ton behemoth is built to dominate large-scale open-pit mines where high-volume production is the only metric that matters. At its heart is the massive Cummins QSM15 engine, delivering 563kW to drive a two-stage screw compressor with an output of 39 m³/min at 25 bar. This air capacity allows the KT30 to power K8 hammers for holes up to 254mm, making it one of the most capable integrated rigs on the market.

A key innovation of the KT30 is its use of an aluminum guide rail system combined with a long 9-meter drill rod capacity. By using 9-meter rods (Φ140), the rig significantly reduces the frequency of rod changes, which is a major bottleneck in deep-hole drilling. This leads to higher “net drilling time” per shift. The aluminum rail ensures that even at these lengths, the feed remains perfectly straight, preventing hole deviation and ensuring the integrity of the blast pattern.

Automation and control in the KT30 are fully electronic. The semi-automatic rod handling system handles the heavy 9-meter steel with precision, while the floating joint and automatic oil injection systems protect your investment in large-diameter drill strings. The rig also features an advanced electro-hydraulic anti-sticking system that monitors real-time drilling conditions, automatically backing off the feed if rock hardness changes unexpectedly, preventing costly bit burials.

Stability and terrain handling are exceptional for a machine of this weight. The KT30 features a heavy-duty crawler chassis with 430mm of ground clearance and powerful traction motors. The boom and beam systems provide incredible flexibility for a rig of this size, with a 132° beam tilt and an 1800mm compensation stroke. This allows the rig to set up quickly and securely on the uneven benches of an active mine site.

The operator’s station on the KT30 is designed for long-term comfort and total control. The ROPS/FOPS certified cab is fully enclosed, air-conditioned, and provides panoramic visibility of the work area. Inside, the operator has access to a real-time angle and depth display, allowing for precise execution of the drilling plan.
